The Course

Currently the first hole, this is a 297m Par 4 where position from your drive will be of great advantage. The fairway slopes from left to right with a spinney and a lateral water hazard in the right rough which will affect a wayward drive. Two bunkers high on the left will catch those longer hitters who miss the fairway. The sloping fairway increases the difficulty of your approach shot as it has a tendency to push it towards the lake on the right hand side of the green which is well protected by a bunker on the left.

A good drive down the right half of the fairway and a brave shot over the water should bring you the rewards. Don’t be short with your approach.

The present third hole is a Par 4 which measures 373m and a deserved index 3. A slight dog leg to the right across the valley with out of bounds on the right and bunker on the left make it one of the more difficult driving holes on the course. A spinney short right of the green will block your approach so left half of the fairway is the shot. A pot bunker on the right of a long green and a sizeable bunker on the left mean a tight entrance to this green.

Aim for the second bunker off the tee with a slight fade and this will leave you with the best angle of approach. Do not be long as there is a hazard and out of bounds over the back of the green.

A difficult 454m Par 5 which usually plays into the prevailing wind and for most will be a three shot approach. A difficult drive with trees either side of the fairway and a bunker on the left demand your best effort. Reach the 200m mark or better off your drive and you have a decision to make. Lay up short of the lake or go for a well protected green with a lateral water hazard on the left. No room over the back here. If you choose to lay up make sure you avoid the sizeable bunker to the right of your landing area.

Split the fairway from your drive and a sensible lay up will leave you with a comfortable pitch to a narrow green.

Hole 9 is a 466m Par 5 which can ruin a good card. No major difficulty off the tee except for a bunker on the left. The second shot is critical here as you need to be on the extreme left of the fairway to give you an unhindered approach to the green. A mid range iron should put you in a good position. A large bunker on the right and a lake on the left edge of this green mean you have to be accurate with your approach shot. There is plenty of room over the back if you are long.

A good drive and a positional second will leave you with a comfortable third into the green but accuracy is the key to netting a possible birdie. Stay up on the hill for your third. The big hitters will have to take on the two trees if they go for it in two but it is a very difficult blind second.
